Where is Condi Rice When Republicans Need Her?

An official portrait of Condoleezza Rice. Cont...

Condoleezza Rice

Wall Street Journal‘s, Neil King Jr. wrote, “GOP Debate Fuels a Long Shot”, an article about former CEO of GodFather’s Pizza, Herman Cain, an African American who is drawing interest among some Republicans. And now he has announced!

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that Condoleezza Rice has also been a lot more visible lately on the TV News show circuit. As far as I know, she’s expressed no interest in running for President, but I wonder…

I recently listened to her autobiography, An Extraordinary Ordinary Family, the CD version, on a trip up North. I highly recommend it!

I’ve been curious about Condoleezza, who is a Specialist on the Soviet Union, a concert pianist, and football fan. But my knowledge of her was limited to her days of service during the Bush years. At times, I’ve wondered what kind of President she might be.

This book presents a compelling glimpse into her life as a small black girl growing up in the segregated South of Bull Conner‘s Alabama. She pulls no punches as she shares feelings of anger and hatred, fear and disappointment, that she experienced while learning how to confront racism without becoming bitter.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Condoleezza, a Republican and ‘outside the box’ Conservative, is a passionate advocate for affirmative action, lives diversity and despises intolerance in any form, especially racial segregation,  with a history of persistently working to defeat it.

She was and continues to be outspoken, honest and intelligent, but “not a genius” as she proved, much to her parents’ chagrin. She’s a specialist who knows her limits.

This is why Donald Rumsfeld’s claim in his book, that Condoleezza Rice was “unfit for office”, and “never disagreed with George Bush” drew my attention. I had just listened to the section in the CD where she strongly argued with President Bush’s plan to repeal Affirmative Action (and won).

Apparently,  Rumsfeld’s assertions caught her eye/ear as well, and she’s not one to let these things go! See the article below:

Ironically, Condolezza had a guest spot on NBC TV‘s, 30 Rock recently. With all this exposure, I can’t help but speculate if she might be considering a run for president? She certainly seems far superior to any of the other candidates offering themselves…and she’s a Black woman whose time has perhaps come.
