Gaza’s Children Part V

Thanks to Jezza Neumann for this series.

07 June, 2010

A Must Watch Documentary

First Broadcast Monday 15 March 2010 – Runtime 48 Minutes

In December 2008, the Israeli Defence Force attacked Gaza. Around 300 children were among the 1,300 Palestinians that were killed.

After the ceasefire, BAFTA-winning filmmaker Jezza Neumann arrived in Gaza to follow the lives of three children over a year.

Surrounded by the remnants of the demolished Gaza Strip and increasingly isolated by the blockade that prevents anyone from rebuilding their homes and their lives, Children of Gaza is a shocking, touching and uniquely intimate reflection on extraordinary courage in the face of great adversity.

I (Mary Perry) believe there is always more than one side to any story, in fact, that there are at least three sides: God who values humility and cares for the poor and crushed in body and spirit sees another side entirely; one beneath the surface residing within the heart.

God sees the Israelis who ‘grind’ their teeth because of stress at night, as well as the Palestinians with PTSD.

I’m learning that the heart of this matter is more complex than any of us can “know”, but not too complex for us to aim for a just solution.

  1. The video is amazing–opening our eyes to the suffering of the children of Gaza, and their understandable desire for revenge., but also for peace. Let’s pray that “justice will roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream” (Amos 5:24).

    • Thanks, JP! Prayer does make a difference!
